Welcome to my website. At East-West Therapy, I offer individuals a safe, supportive, encouraging, non-judgmental, and nurturing space where they may explore and grow. I offer traditional “Western” therapeutic modalities such as Jungian-based Depth Psychotherapy,  and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy while weaving in other creative modalities such as Dreamwork, Meditation Practice, and Sandplay Therapy.

Qualified Medical Examiner (QME)

I am also a Qualified Medical Examiner (QME) in California. A Qualified Medical Examiner is a physician or psychologist who evaluates you when there are questions about what benefits you should receive for an industrial injury claimed under the Workers Compensation Laws of California. A Physician or Psychologist must meet educational and licensing requirements to qualify as a QME. They must also pass a national test and participate in ongoing education on the Workers Compensation Evaluation process If you have an attorney, you and your claims administrator might agree on a doctor or psychologist to resolve medical disputes. This doctor or psychologist is called an Agreed Medical Evaluator (AME). An AME or a panel QME will be used to resolve medical disputes in your Workers Compensation case.

Beginning the process of psychotherapy is a courageous step! I believe that the emergence of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, addiction, relationship difficulties, grief & mourning, sexual orientation/identity, work/career issues, self-esteem, and others are often a call from psyche announcing the arrival of a new level of self-awareness, consciousness, and psycho-spiritual integration. We become introduced to previously-unknown aspects of ourselves which come “online” when it is time to transition to a new phase of our life and development. These psychic eruptions often make themselves known in such recognizable phenomena as dreams, fantasies, images, and emotional/psychological symptoms. Most of us need an experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate guide to navigate this sometimes difficult yet potentially fruitful period. I feel privileged to be called-on to respectfully accompany my patients on this powerful and profoundly-meaningful journey.

I offer over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, children, and families. I have experience with such issues and populations as: depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and mourning, eating disorders, addiction, ADHD, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Queer, Questioning, & Intersex community, sexual orientation and identity, and HIV. I have studied and utilize many therapeutic and psycho-spiritual modalities in my work including: Jungian-based Analytic Psychotherapy, Dreamwork, Archetypal Psychology, Zen Buddhism, Meditation, Sandplay Therapy, Dance Therapy, and Art Therapy. I am currently a Candidate in the Certified Jungian Analyst Training Program at the C. G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles.

I have a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA and am a Licensed Psychologist in California and Hawaii. I am also a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Hawaii and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CAADAC) in California and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in Hawaii.
