Anxiety May Be Trying To Tell You Something

Anxiety disorders are extremely prevalent in today’s world. Between financial worries, nonstop schedules, children, relationships and work stress, most people carry around some level of anxiety. While experiencing some stress and anxiety is normal – and can sometimes be helpful to maintain energy and focus – when anxiety symptoms begin impacting your ability to feel good and function well, your anxiety may be a signal that something in your life needs attention. From a Jungian psychology perspective, anxiety is your psyche’s way of communicating that you are living out of balance. If you are constantly feeling unsafe, driven by fear, struggling to make decisions and connect with others, or engaging in numbing or destructive behaviors, it may be critical for you to seek help, slow down and explore the imbalances in your body, soul and life. Thankfully, with proper guidance, anxiety can be managed and even overcome. Anxiety treatment can help you better understand what your anxiety is trying to communicate so you can navigate out of a lifestyle that is no longer serving you.

Supportive Anxiety Treatment Can Help You Develop Self-Awareness And Calm Anxiety Symptoms

Anxiety, along with many other symptoms and unsettling life events and transitions, is usually messages from the psyche (soul) that it’s time to slow down and begin healing what is troubling and out of balance in your life. In our anxiety treatment sessions, I’ll provide a safe, predictable, nonjudgmental space for you to describe symptoms, explore what is out of balance in your life and address what needs to emerge for you now. The first step to finding relief from anxiety symptoms is acknowledging that you are ready to heal.

In addition to slowing down and exploring what your psyche is messaging you, we can also look at how negative thought patterns, exaggerated emotional responses and unrealistic beliefs about yourself and your life may be fueling your anxiety. You can begin responding to the world around you with more mindfulness and develop techniques that promote balanced thinking. As you develop increased self-awareness, reinforce positive experiences and learn meditation, breathing, and self-soothing techniques, you can not only become more equipped to help yourself when anxiety heightens, but also better understand what your thoughts, triggers, feelings and body sensations are trying to tell you.

Throughout our therapeutic process, I will consider myself your companion as you embark on a journey to self-discovery and tap into your soul. In a safe space, free from blocks and judgment, it is possible to better communicate with and within yourself. You can cultivate self-awareness, make positive, meaningful changes in your life, and free yourself from anxiety and the other uncomfortable symptoms that are causing you pain today.

But, you may still have questions or concerns about anxiety treatment…

I think that anxiety treatment could be helpful, but I’m concerned about time and costs.

I encourage you to think about anxiety counseling as an investment in self-growth. In therapy, it is possible to make personal breakthroughs and changes that can significantly alter the way you view the world and yourself within it. Your anxiety symptoms may be your psyche telling you that now is the time for real change.

I invite you to call East West Therapy to discuss your specific concerns about cost and time. I accept many insurances and occasionally work on a sliding scale for clients who are struggling financially and out-of-network.

I’m afraid that talking about my anxiety will cause more anxiety and I’ll feel even worse.

It’s common to fear that opening up will make you feel worse and, honestly, it may at first. However, it’s important to understand that anxiety is a message from the psyche that something is out of balance in your life. In order to find relief and restore balance, understanding what your anxiety is trying to tell you and then making changes in your life is critical to cultivating sustained wellbeing.

It’s also important to note that in therapy, you are not alone. Your pain is sharable, which makes it more bearable. We all need support when we take important steps toward self-growth, and I can offer you a safe, supportive container as you work through painful issues and emotions and begin to heal.

Why can’t I get over this on my own?

We all need help sometimes. We live in communities and rely on others for various things daily. Seeking anxiety therapy to help you better understand and manage your anxiety is no different. If you could manage anxiety on your own, you would have already done so. Insomuch, while you keep telling yourself that you should be able to get over your anxiety on your own, you continue to suffer. In sessions, we can explore the depths of your anxiety and develop ways to mitigate symptoms so you can begin feeling good and functioning well again. And, like many others, you may be surprised by how relieving it feels to openly and honestly share your pain with another person.
